Our Financial Journey
From a simple idea in Chicoutimi to helping thousands of Canadians master their financial futures
The Beginning in Chicoutimi
What started as weekend conversations between friends about mounting student debt became something bigger. We noticed how many people around us were struggling with basic budgeting concepts – not because they weren't smart, but because nobody had ever taught them practical money management. Our founder, Ezekiel Montrose, was working as an accountant and kept seeing the same patterns: people earning decent salaries but living paycheck to paycheck. The idea was straightforward – create educational content that actually makes sense to regular people, not just finance professionals.
Growing Through Challenge
The pandemic changed everything for Canadian families, and we found ourselves busier than ever. People were suddenly working from home, dealing with job uncertainty, and trying to figure out emergency funds for the first time. We expanded our content to cover crisis budgeting and started offering virtual workshops. By fall 2021, we had helped over 3,000 individuals create their first realistic monthly budgets. Our approach remained the same – no complicated jargon, just practical steps that work with real Canadian salaries and expenses.
Expanding Our Reach
Last year marked a turning point as we partnered with community centers across Quebec and Ontario. Our team grew to include certified financial counselors, and we launched our comprehensive online learning modules. The response was overwhelming – we discovered that people were hungry for financial education that respected their intelligence while acknowledging their real constraints. Whether someone was earning ,000 or ,000, the fundamental principles remained the same: track your money, plan ahead, and build slowly toward your goals.
